1973 to 2013 Shannon Bradley hensley

It was a nice day and my Mom, Debbie and I were ready for lunch so we decided to go to the A & W for lunch.  Before this we had went to the court house and I thought my water had broke.  Mom said it was probably nothing so we decided it was Ok to go and eat lunch.  Later the water never quit so they decided to take me to the hospital to have our little baby.  Back then we didn't know the sex - it was surprise everytime.
Now, not long before this my sister, Debbie, had given birth to a baby girl and she had passed away after only three short days of her life.  Deb had some complications during her pregnancy and they did an untra sound only to find that the baby girl had no brain.  It never developed.  Shawna had a very strong heartbeat and that is why she lived for the three days. 
Way back then the doctors didn't allow us to even see  the new little beautiful girl.  Our friend, Shirley Worth said that she was pretty and cuddled her in the nursery.  Too bad we didn't even get any pictures of her either.  That part of Deb's life was taken away from her way too soon.  She had already lost her husband (they divirced) and now her child.  How devastating for her.  So when it was my time to go to the hospital she didn't want any part of it.
We called Bill at work and he said that he would be up there when he got done with work.  True to his word he came up and then the contractions started.  My lunch was long gone--maybe wasn't a wise choice to eat after my water broke.  Oh, well.
It wasn't too long and our little bundle of  joy was out into the world.  I had give birth to a wonderful, handsome little guy.  We named him Shannon Bradley Hensley.  What a life changing experience and a good one at that.  We loved this little one from the very first moment that we saw him.  Dr. Gregoire was his doctor.

And to think now, 40 years later..................our oldest son just turned 40 last month!!!!  It seems like a short time ago and he was a young boy.  Shannon has brought many years of happy times to this family and I am so proud of all that he has done.  He has a positive attitude on life and it goes far with him.  He has a well rounded life with our family and his many friends.  Still Love this son of ours with all my heart!!

January 2012

Nice New Year's Eve.  Had dinner at Angie and Brett's and played a couple games of cards.  Home by 9 since they have church in the morning.  Watched some Tv and then to bed before midnight.  My oh my, it sure seems we are getting old!!

New Year's Day!!!  Amadeo's Birthday!!!  He turns 7 today so he wanted his birthday party at Mc Donald's south.  His friends showed up and had a great time.  He got lots of nice gifts and then back to home.  It's a cold and windy day, much like the day he was born, so we went back home also. 

Bill had to move the last two cars from the front of the yard since the time was up for having any vehicles in the front yard.  By next July all vehicles will be off property except our personal vehicles.  Lots of changes due for 2012.  Some not so good but we'll see how they play out.  This place has been known as "home" for us and many others for so long it will be tough to leave but we will see................

Back to realtiy after the holidays.

Got a call from Lou...........her mother passed on Jan. 8th.

We started playing cards in the evening again...........it's kind of fun to get toegther and do something other than just watch TV.  We'll see how it goes............

An evening at the parks

Well, it's been a few days since Amadeo's surgery and he needs to get out of the house.............to say nothing that his Mom needs ot get out too!!!!  It's a beautiful summer evening and we head to the park.  The kids love going to the area parks and there are so many to chose from...........it's great to have so many coices!  Anyway the first park we go to is the one by their house.............noone there so they have it all.  After a short time a couple boys come to play also but they don't come to where we are.  Matia is our little swinger..........she absolutely LOVES to swing!!  Amadeo likes it very well too so we go to the swings first.  They go wayyyyyy up and just love it.  They have a tire swing and we go there next..........I push them really fast and they ride together .  What a joy to see them both so happy!!
Decide to go to the Central school playground next and they are quite familiar with this place..especailly Amadeo since that is where he goes to school.  First thing...........the big swing then off to the balance beam....climbing apparatices and such andthen the slide..............another fun time!!  Here a some pics of their fun times and their smiles to with it!!

Animal Land

It is  a rather nice Saturday morning and not much to do so we give Angie and family a call to see if they want to go to Animal Land.  They are all up for it!!  We missed going last year so this should be fun.  Brett, Angela, Amadeo, Matia, Tina and I head out for the park.  It is rather hot so they bring water along. 

We get there and look at all of the animals inside the building.............lots of crawly things!  A huge snake too.  Kids love looking at them. 

Well, outside is next...........bought a tub of foods to feed the animals with.  The first things Amadeo spots is the kangaroo and he loves it!!!  He wants to go in the cage with him.  But he does remind us about his large tail and how strong it is.

 Amadeo loves all kinds of animals and so he is in paradise..............Look at all of them!!  Matia likes to feed them from a distance and look but not too keen on touching or feeding from the hand.  She is a little girl afterall................Just Love her!! 
Walking along we see lots of fun things...........like raccoons, a pot belly pig and porcupine..........and of course, the BIG Lion.

Feeding the animals was fun for the kids and Tina.........Matia kept asking......."why do the animals poop so much?? and EVERYWHERE???"   She did not like to step in that stuff..........  Actually none of did. 

It was a very nice relaxing morning and one we will have to do again soon.  Love spending time with family!!!

Amadeo had his tonsils and adenoids out

Well, the time is here............today Amadeo has his tonsils out.  It's August 2, 2011 and he has had too many days of feeling tired, down and sick.

We meet at the hospital at 6:30 and off go the clothes and on goes the gown.  Cartoons are on the tv and we are just waiting.  Doesn't take long and they are here to get our litle man.  I always choke up at these kind of things so I just give a little kiss and wave goodbye.  The doc said that it would be around 45 minutes and by golly in 45 minutes the doc was back and said everything went well.  He will be in recovery for about an hour.
Finally up at his room and he is still groggy from the meds.  Just wants to cuddle and get comfotable so that is what we do.  I just love this little guy and when he wants to cuddle by all means let's do it!  The nurse came in with ice chips and he takes it like a trooper.  Next the nurse tells us that the meds Amadeo will have to take for the next 10 days or so, at intervals of 4 hours, tastes terrible!!  Oh great, now what??   Well, it's time for his first dose and daddy gives it to him and he takes it great!!  Hurrah!!  at least mom won't have to worry about giving him that.  He also has to take amoxicillian to prevent infection.
Amadeo did a really good job of being a good patient.  Lots of visitors so the time goes by fast.  Mom spent the night with him and Auntie Patsy took them all home the next day.  Little sis, Matia spent the past couple days with Auntie Tina so she had a good time too.

4th of July

Nice day for a picnic down at Diamond Point park............Brett got down there around 7:30 so we could get one of the big pavillions.  NICE!  Then around 9 or so Doc went down and relieved him. Tina joined Dooc aroudn 11 and then we all gathered by 12 or so.

Well.............this year we decided that squirt guns would be a fun addition to the picnic!!!  It was a blast!!!  We all got wet and had fun dousing each other.........here is a pic of Bill getting blasted by Ty.........  Matia even got me!!  LOL  it was sooo much FUN!!

After that we were down at the beach making sand castles.....playing in the water and just plain relaxing.

After all the water goings on and then a little relaxing before the fireworks............lay on the blanket and jsut look at the clouds.........

Doc's Uncle Leland and his son Jerry with his girlfriend came from Milaca to spend some time with Doc and the rest of us.  We were all sitting at the beach enjoying the night whne over the radio they announced that a very bad storm was headed to Bemidji with damaging winds.  Well, we wanted to be safe so we packed up and went for home.  Got home and the guys played frisbee outside---even when it rained!  A very fun and exciting day  --- even if we didn't see any fireworks.  Looking forward to next year.............
